“I can’t,” Wesley reminded him, exasperated. It was the strangest feeling to know this stranger he met two days ago was his twin brother and best friend. How could that not extend to someone he knew even less? “I don’t even remember her.”
Connor rolled his eyes. “Wesley. You and I both know you don’t have to remember.”
Wesley stayed silent.
“Don’t tell me you’re not plotting to sneak over there first chance you get.”
Wesley opened his mouth to protest, then realized abruptly that Connor was startlingly right.

Or... well, I had thought "strangers" but that took it toward angst since it made me think of how hard it must be to not know who a twin/brother was and for one that does remember to see his brother not remembering him.

But when he turned around, he saw his twin brother Wesley, busily sprinkling seeds into the tomato patch.
“Hey! That’s where the tomatoes go!” Connor barreled over to stop Wesley from ruining it.
Wesley sat back on his heels and said politely-and stubbornly, “I like onions.”
Connor sighed and slapped his forehead. “We have enough onions already.”
Wesley thought about that, then upended the rest of his seed packet into the earth.
Connor stared, then: “Mom!”

“Yes, Connor?” Mom was still cheerful and loving. She always made time for both of them.
“Can Wesley ever talk to strangers?” he asked. “I know I can’t, but...”
“Oh, sweetie.” Mom reached out and touched his cheek. “You’re not a stranger. No matter what.”
Connor nodded and admitted, “Well, I was really hoping he could talk to the ice cream man for me...”
