I typically try to do something that interests me. Something that takes my mind off of why I am sad.

I've been trying that! I've been working twice as hard as normal for the past few months, and it was working but then I started feeling sad even when I was fixing things! Isn't that the craziest thing you've ever heard?!

How odd. Do you perhaps have any hobbies that you enjoy? Beyond fixing things, of course.

[Silence.]

Uhm, I'm an engineer.

[B doesn't know what else to say. On his homeworld, he was conditioned from before when he was decanted from his jar to think that physical engineering is the best thing in the world. It is his hobby, his job, everything to him.

A few moment later, he lamely adds.]

I like horseback riding. And... uhm, music.

The best way to stop feeling sad...

I think it helps to remember that one is not alone. I always find it easier to be happier when I have close friends near me. I also find it comforting to help others who may need it. It lightens any sadness I may feel.

What do you think will make you happy, or do you know?

I always find that music makes me feel happy. It reminds me of my old life, and all the fond memories that go with it. Perhaps you could do something that reminds you of how things were before you came to work on the ship?

I am usually partial to having sex or getting drunk. Or both, in one order or another.

Don't you go gettin' yourself all down. You go on vacation to get away from home.
Now you tell me where the good captain has you stayin' and I'll fix you up somethin'!
