Up to a point. I’d say it’s a case-by-case basis, really. I’ve known some people who have done some really terrible things that are really good people. It’s all got to do with intention and remorse. Kinda? When something's too far out of reach, hopelessly so, you can drive insane wanting it anyway, or stop.

In that case, I don't think the wanting stops, just that the person stops thinking about it. And when offered the hope of redemption, they won't refuse.
