I don't know what Lemuria is in the game, but in real life, it's the name of a mythical lost continent that was hypothesised to have formed a land-bridge between Madagascar, India, and I think Sumatra. The discovery that these areas used to be joined anyway due to tectonic shift rendered Lemuria redundant.
