books, I need books

anyone have any good fic recommendations? actual book fic, that is. I'm burned out on non-fic at the moment, and lack the energy to seek out good alternatives.

I'm game for pretty much anything except horror. I can forgive much weakness of plot if the characters pull me in. and I know I said fic, but I'd also be interested in a "collected letters" ( Read more... )

books, real life

Are comics ok?

Have you read Scott Pilgrim? It is really great, there are three volumes out, and a fourth on the way. It's by Brian Lee O'Malley. (I am spelling the name by memory, I am not a good speller...)

Or how about Fun Home by Alison Bechdel (again, I didn't check the spelling). Great book, and Time Magazine decided that it was their "Book of the Year" last year.

Have you read Good Omens? It is by Neil Gaiman and Terry Prachet. I love the book, and hey, it's not comics (though it is fairly old by now...).

Well, that's what comes to mind right now.

I haven't read any of those; I'll check them out! I have, um, never read a comic. I mean, Tales From the Crypt and such as a kid, but none since then and never a book. *blushes* Don't tell dh.

I tell you, I've not read much fiction at all in over a year. My reading time has been consumed by non-fic and fan fic. Which is a great way to spend time, but I need something different.

I'll let you know what I try . . .

You know, I actually checked that out of the library once, and then got deathly ill and never read it! I'll add it back to my list; thanks.
