Stephen Baldwin is bad enough on his own, but to have to watch Josh gazing at him admiringly - - was it a bar bet gone terribly wrong?  did Ethan lose him to ( Read more... )

Now, I did enjoy Crossing the Bridge; I thought it perfectly captured the aimless misery of small-town existence for a boy whose best days are behind him with high school, a boy with no future at all, and a boy who's too smart for his own good. And Stephen Baldwin wasn't as repellent in this as he is in Threesome.

On the other hand, I've only watched weeJosh's bits of Don't Tell Mom, which seemed pretty vacuous, from what I could make out while I was fast-forwarding the rest.

Our America is very worthy, and that's all I have to say about it. Josh is pretty, but the two boys aren't good enough actors to carry a film.

"I thought it perfectly captured the aimless misery of small-town existence . . ."

And I thought they TOLD me about that misery, but didn't really capture it. And it didn't make us believe that this trio would be friends.

"which seemed pretty vacuous . . ."

Oh, it was. Hence the embarrassment. The overwhelming cuteness of weeJosh overwhelmed all other considerations!

"Our America is very worthy . . ."

I couldn't help but think that worthy was a nice change for him! I agree about the other actors, but they probably feared a negative reaction if they focused more on the white outsider (much like the reaction the real film maker got in real life!).
