There's definitely a scary sf story in here: Scientists move a step closer to reading a person's mind.

It's actually much less scary than it sounds - through a lot of study they're able to recognize patterns in spatial memory, and they're hoping to apply it to Alzheimer's research. Still, it definitely triggers dystopic sf ideas.

That is very cool, in a slightly creepy way. I knew the hippocampus didn't have such an awesome name for nothing!

The brain is so amazing! Being about the most unscientific person ever, it's so crazy to me when I read about something so abstract as a memory having a physical basis. It's like when they taught me about photosynthesis, and I absolutely could not envision all of that happening in a plant.
