It really annoys me when ...

When people say things like "Bring back teh REAL Batgirl" or "Bring back teh REAL Blue Beetle". I browse a lot on ComicVine and DC Message Boards, and people there say that all the freaking time. It's a sad attempt to delegitimatize legacy heroes by saying "they're not real". Newsflash: None of them are real. BarbaraBatgirl is no more real then ( Read more... )

100% agree. Moving forward is a part of life. The characters are able to move on, so why can't readers?

I don't follow Avatar, but after seeing your icon I think I might have to.

IAWYC. DC talking about taking Babs out of the chair pisses me off like no other. For one thing, CassBatgirl is a great character (when not written by Beechen). For another, Babs has had a lot of character development since becoming Oracle, and making her Batgirl again would be a step backwards. No one is wanting Dick to become Robin again (I hope), because he's such a different character now than he was then. Not to mention that Babs is probably around 30 years old, and calling her Batgirl is more than a little bit disrespectful...it'd be like calling whoever is suceeding Bruce in RIP Batboy.

Yes but she was invented after 1985 so she's not the REAL Batgirl and she's obviously fake and a poser. Plus she's a non-white character who's in a role that was primarily held by a white character, and look at what happened to Connor and Ryan.

You seem awesome, so I added you. :D

Totally agree. Just about all my favorite characters were created after 1985. Tim Drake, Kon-El, Bart...they're my Titans. Cass is my Batgirl. I wouldn't object to Babs walking again (just because Batman recovered fully from the same injury, so y'know...), but to make her Batgirl again would just be silly. She's become one of the most important, indispensible heroes in the DCU. Who wouldn't drop all that to cosplay their teen years and risk a quick re-entry to the wheelchair on a daily basis? It doesn't make sense.

Nice to meet you!

Hey, I am awesome! I'm sure you are too! But I have a question ; how did you find out about me? I'm just curious =)

I just don't understand how Babsgirl fans want her back as Batgirl. Oracle is incredibly unique and vital to the DCU. If Dick Grayson is the heart of the DCU, Barbara Gordon is the backbone. I'm sure she's going to walk again, DiDio once said in an interview that there were some stories "too powerful to undo, like the shooting of Barbara Gordon or the death of Barry Allen" :/ .

You just responded to my comment on nevermore999's journal about Bart, so I decided to check out your account. Lo and behold, fellow comic fan!

Ah, that Didio. I'm a much bigger DC fan than I am a Marvel one, but he can really try my patience sometimes. I wouldn't be shocked if she was walking again by the end of this Battle for the Cowl stuff. *sigh*
