Say what you want about the many developments of Slam over the years: time clocks, 3-minute rule, team rotations, 5x3...none of this compares to the scoring system I saw in place last night at the OSU Heritage Festival Slam

I wish! It's Lenny Henry, who was, for a time, the Eddie Murphy of England. This is him in his "Chef" outfit from the sitcom "Chef", which was one of the smartest sitcoms of all time.
P.S. Why the heck are you always awake so early!ebonygoddess9May 4 2005, 14:14:26 UTC
I was wondering why you seemed to be tired all the time (I just assumed because you are so busy with slamming, etc.), but then I realized that most of your posts are like at 6 or 7 something in the morning. WHY ARE YOU UP ON THIS THING THAT EARLY?!!!

If you check the time on this, you'll see I'm always up late, too.
It's the only way I can get anything done for myself outside of the 40 hour day job. Get up, work on stuff, go to work and sneak stuff through, get off and try to do more work.

I think the reason the MPSL is so successful is heavily due to the different scoring system and format. It makes it more spontaneous and you get things happening that don't usually happen at a regular slam. For example, the four minute round which could be a 6 person team piece with musical accompaniment and a brick of Velveeta cleverly used as a prop. I'm not saying this should happen at Nats, but it sure makes for a memorable show.

Now, Dan, you know I'm not saying different is bad. I'm saying different for the sake of different is usually bad. MPSL is different, but it has good reasons for its differences, and it shows in the good time had by all.

Again, Mr. President, you are correct. Apples & oranges I think. I was just saying that altered scoring systems, which I've experienced at shows other than the MPSL, have the potential to exciting if done correctly.
