"Slam is not a style, but an act. There are a lot of styles in Slam, and while a lot of poets sound and look alike, that has more to do with artistic laziness than it does with what Slam requires."

Amen.

I also contend that there's no such thing as a slam poem, only poems that have the potential to score well in a poetry slam. Corollary: There are many rants, lists, and stories that have the potential to score well in a poetry slam, but that doesn't inherently make them poems.
