The thing about Brother Said is...I think he really DOES have Robert's Rules of Order memorized.Even if they are wrongly memorized in parts, he speaks with authority as if they are the right ones.

RRoO itself acknowledges that there are things that trump RRoO. Those things are clearly constitution, bylaws, and standing rules. Tradition is less clear.

I suggested a few years ago that PSi have a sergeant-at-arms to keep on top of this stuff, so that the chair can go about conducting the meeting. The SaA is someone who knows the RRoO stuff well, but can also tell the back row to STFU or deal with requests like "it's hot in here, can we open a window". I haven't been to an SM meeting in over a year, but I still think it's a good idea.
