to be honest, I jumped on the NaNoWriMo wagon to be hip. I really wasn't expecting to put in the amount of effort this thing apparently requires. like, right now, I've got 1,000 words and no sense of scene composition. but whenever I read your novel updates, I kick myself in the butt.
even if I top out at the end of the month with 30k, it'll still be by far far far the deepest piece of ficti.... of anything that I've written. that I could drink hot cocoa to.
I've been overwhelmed with work (that is to say, the writing that pays my bills) and haven't touched my novel in over a week, but I'm still hanging in there and hoping to have the word count by the end of the month. I /have/ put out a 50,000 word book in a week or less before, and when I'm really in the zone, I can do 20,000 words in a day non-fiction so...

I'll tell you this much: It's shown me that beating yourself up over a one-page poem is pretty ridiculous.
