Rust Belters Rough Guide to Columbus

Jun 14, 2007 18:30

I am excited about seeing so many poets in my hometowen this coming weekend for the Rust Belt!  Do I think 15 teams is too many?  Yes, but I'll take seeing all of those cool poet folks and friends and friends-to-be any day.

I just want to shoot some notes to anyone coming to the Rust Belt who hasn't been to Columbus before or whose Columbus chops ( Read more... )

two other GV breakfast places are the Easy Street Cafe and the German Village Cafe at the corner of Whittier and Jaeger.

Zen Cha at High and Second has a killer brunch and great tea.

Mad Mex at the campus gateway has one of the better beer selections in the city.

I'll be watching my son most of the weekend so I won't be able to come.

I know. Really wanted to see the finals on Saturday to get a feel for what the competition is all about.

It's all true!
I've seen bigger, but it's got a great gimmick.
Favorite bookstore was one in Seattle, took up three blocks. Wish I could remember the name...

Festival Latino is going on downtown this weekend, so it'll be busier than usual. That event is happening on the riverfront.

Juneteenth is happening, too, in Franklin Park.

"The team itself is pretty mild except for Vernell." I'll just have you know that, though we may not be on the team, Dave and I put the Toronto puppies to bed and kept right on partying our own damn selves! I think that this influx of "new/middleage/crisis school" poets could do wonders for the Writer's Block fear/fun factor if nothing else!

I'm sayin'!
We need to set-up a Guys Night Out, seriously.

I'm on it! It will be set up and done! Guys only, no talk of shoes or any of that shit. We'll get a drink and then maybe go shoot something.
I'll hit up all the guys backchannel so the ladies and SBF's can't even think of crashing the night.
And, god bless Team Toronto, but they could not keep up with Corey and me. Of course, Neither Corey or I have to perform at Rust Belt. Best of luck to Toronto, a great troupe of poets.
