i like it the way it is now. it has a nice relaxed feel to it... well done without overworking it. you can still feel the emotion in it. i would so hang this in my bedroom.
Wow, a compliment from the one guy on here I was dreading! Thanks, Bill. Means a lot.
Funny you mention "relaxed": I took to this in eanrest after watching "Myserty of Picasso" for, like, the 50th time and the laid-back daring of his process (as opposed to his style, though it may be relevant to that as well) made me decide not to paint so "hard". So I'm glad it's working out.
i agree, unless there's further info about where you're thinking about going...
i like posting works-in-progress on LJ (you get a lot of varied feedback, & of course it keeps you going) although my 'filter' for that is miniscule b/c i, too, dread some feedback--but your proportions are great, the cat echoes the moon for curvature, and the treatment of the city (which could have come across as too naive) is very controlled and textural.
And I can see that it might be finished. But it also seems to me that different colors for the houses would work. (Why comment if you can't take a side?) I'm actually on the side of different colors for the houses but then I usually go for balance and symetry, so that's a predictable response from me. This is one of those paintings that's better in real life? Aye? It's good here too.
Wow, Scott, this is really impresseive. I esp. like the way you've done the houses in the landscape; I wouldn;t fill in too many more of them; I like the transparency of some of them. The colors and blocky-ness of the painting remind me of mod/beat 60s movie posters like that for Vertigo--all jazz and shape.
