A/N:- Set in about 2019 and featuring Mica Davies, Ianto’s niece. Contains a non-specific but potentially spoilery reference to CoE (though I’m still unsure whether CoE fits into my own personal version of canon or not!)
Mid-August saw the last in the current series of BBC TV series ‘Who do you think you are?’ where celebrities are given the opportunity to find out more about their ancestors with the help of professional genealogists. This year also saw veteran TV interviewer Michael Parkinson reveal he had been turned down for the programme as his family history was too boring.

Mica looked down at the family tree she had been working on for her high-school history project and sighed. The teacher, Miss Hughes, had assured them they would find surprises, people who had done amazing things, visited fantastic places. “Everybody does.” But all Mica had found were working class Welsh men and women going back generation after generation.
Boring, she thought disgustedly.
Then her eyes alighted on one name, the one mystery in her otherwise non-descript family. The one relation her mother refused to talk about, even though he had been dead for ten years.
“Who were you, Ianto Jones?”
