Good news! They didn't necessarily hack your account. (They could have, but the didn't HAVE to.) This happened to me a month or so ago. They stole my address and pasted it on the outgoing spam. I found out about it when all the automated e-mail messages started coming back. A lot of people in England were nt in their office that week so it seems.
I don't know how my e-mail address got picked, it could have been a random generator for all I know. The important thing is by the time I got around to being concerned, the return e-mails stopped (took about three days) and nothing bad has happened since.
I thought that at first, hon, but the outgoing emails were actually IN my outbox. So they had to have sent them from AOL, using my password. I think I am protected now, though...I got ZoneAlarmPro. And techchick suggested I change my password every day or so for awhile....she knows what she is talking about, so I am going to do this. Just to be on the safe side.
The bad thing is that I am having a little trouble getting the hang of how to get ZA to allow me to access some sites I visit regularly. I think I responded wrong the first time they asked. But I'll work it out eventually.
