Sigh. And here we thought that Jack Valenti was dead. I guess it's time to dig him up and put a bullet through his head, because that stake thorugh his heart I put in a year ago doesn't seem to be doing any good.

Well, school libraries have banned certain books. But I'm looking for more limited parallels.

Since the cover of a book is sort of like a movie poster, in that it's the public face each art presents to the world, I was looking for cases in which some sort of body gave a thumb's down to a cover. Too sexy! Too political! Too whatever! Replace it and we'll be glad to sell your book, but until then, sorry.

Since there's no MPAA in book publishing, I was wondering whether a chain had ever exercised such a veto power in that way. I'm making the assumption that it happens and that we just never get to hear about it.

I know that J.G. Ballard's The Atrocity Exhibition was pulped, but that's a different story altogether.
