Sometimes it feels like I've been stuck down here for years. Way down in a hole where the feeble tentacles of light cannot penetrate. Nails split on small rocks while digging through the dirt. Here in my burrow, safe from the vultures.

I've been reading a strange combination of books recently, Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Hardcore Zen. Result: I'm ( Read more... )

No, thats why I'm trying to go through it. Gotta weed out the spam so that I can find my bank statements. For IRS auditing purposes, I think you're supposed to keep financial records for a period of ten years.

I thought it was pretty good. If I had read it 5 or 6 years ago, I would have been blown away. As it is, I've read probably a dozen books on Zen and Buddhist philosophy and have become a bit blasé. It was well written and the ideas it contains are good, they just aren't new to me so it's not as amazing. One of the most interesting aspects to me was where he was discussing the different schools of Zen and some of the differences in their ideas about enlightenment. As a long time reader of Alan Watts, it was interesting to hear about the other school that doesn't put such an emphasis on enlightenment.

I did keep on imagining that it was capacitance who was writing it. The picture on the side with the Misfits shirt is a classic Deeming style ;)
