Oh.my.god.oh.my.god. SO hot, yes, wow, and I just, I LOVE the idea of them playing this game when she's a vampire, and all the stuff about how everything is amplified for her and she wants and needs him, and all the parts in parentheses, guh, I love fics like that, this was just so good and I don't even know where to begin, other than the writing was amazing and the idea was amazing and it was amazing to read.

And I'm happy you liked the parentheses! I was worried it was too much but I love that in fic too and the parentheses show Elena's mental landscape and how things aren't totally stable in there. Eeek, I'm so glad you like this and vampire Elena, and yes, it was supposed to feel like Elena was verging on the edge of madness. I'm really happy you caught unto the suggestion that Elena may have killed someone beforehand--I kinda wanted to flat-out state it, but I didn't want bog this down with too many details. And that's exactly what was happening--Elena needs this chase and hunt, and they both take turns and trade off; I was trying to show that their relationship has changed and gotten a little twisted, but the core of it is still there, they've just...adjusted. I'm so happy you liked this, thank you for reading :D

And then Stefan grabbed her by the shoulders and told her he was going to run and she was going to chase him. It was the single most beautiful solution in the world, made perfect sense on a level she couldn’t explain and when he blurred into the forest, she took off after him on pure instinct.

I full out flailed in my seat when I got to this line. It's just wonderfully, painfully them, you know? Because Elena and Stefan have always been these two people who aren't exactly alike, but who have the same priorities/concerns/etc and NOW that she's a vampire like him it just helps them BOTH SO MUCH. Because now they're both predators who have killed before and are trying to control their instincts. And he understands exactly what she's going through and can figure out the very best way to help her. Which in turn of course turns into her helping him. AND OMGOTPLOVEOTP!

Eeeek, I'm glad you like it! :D Tbh, I've been wanting to write this prompt FOREVER (because it's an amazing prompt and someone should write it) but every time I tried it got so long I had to shelf it to work on it later. I AM GLAD I FINALLY GOT TO FINISH ONE \o/

AND I'M SO HAPPY YOU THOUGHT IT WAS THEM. I was worried because, well, I'm taking the happy functional stable couple and making them have rough, kinda-fucked up sex in the woods. But yes, they're both helping each other; Stefan will try to help Elena and Elena will try to help Stefan and that give-and-take should always be there, that's just who they are. I wanted it to still be them, even if I did twist them up a bit, and I'm glad that came through.

BASICALLY, I'M STOKED YOU LOVED THIS :D <3____<3
