The following quote appeared on yahoo news:
"I wont say it was relief ... it was exhilarating," Oresnik said later during a stop in Gresham where he has one of his longtime customers.
Do they not require proofreaders for this stuff? Does it just not matter anymore?

Your subject line had me laughing my ass off!

I'd like to blame it all on the internet dumbing people down, but that's no excuse. Maybe the people writing the copy think readers are as oblivious as they seem to be to their mistakes?
Hmmmm...maybe I should write them and suggest they hire me as a proofreader. At least then reading their news wouldn't be as annoying as scraping one's nails down a chalkboard...

At least they'd have someone getting the job done right!

I did a bit of research, and apparently that article was written by an Associated Press writer, which makes me cringe even more. Yahoo obtains its stories from bigger news organizations and just posts them on the Yahoo News site, I guess.
At any rate, I e-mailed the Associated Press and asked them if they are in need of any telecommuting copy editors or proofreaders. Hopefully they won't ignore me, but I'm not holding my breath. :)
