Aw, damn it!

Naruto knows he would not have been able to keep following Deidara unnoticed forever, but he cannot help the twinge of disappointment when it becomes obvious that Deidara has figured out he is being tailed. Or maybe it is not that obvious, but when Naruto feels the clone's chakra in addition to Deidara's, it seems pretty damn obvious to him that the other man has figured him out.

He could have kept his distance (should have), in fact in the beginning he did. Or tried to, both physically and emotionally but he has never been good at that and the thought of seeing Deidara alive, if not exactly well, has been plaguing every other waking moment since shinobi's arrival in Anatole ( ... )

The stone clinks away from the dull edge of a kunai, followed by two white birds being thrown out of the shadows and right at Naruto. A second later Deidara is mounting a bird himself and breezing out his hiding place, gaining speed and height with every bat of a wing.

Jittery, nervous, Deidara crouches low on the bird's back, trying to peer at his "enemy".

It's what any shinobi would do, right? He would feel rather indignant if he would know what the mighty weapon Naruto used was.

In truth he wouldn't be as quick to charge in battle if he weren't already feeling like sliding on the edge of a blade. It is one thing to be in an unfamiliar surroundings suddenly, crowded with people who he knows nothing about, than to doubt his own abilities to survive if a push comes to shove. Once again, he resolves himself to devote endless hours for training and relearning his own abilities, once again, he decides that it's time to recreate that, which is weak and feeble.

Because how else could he fail something so simple as hiding away from ( ... )
