[There won't be much time for brooding, Dawn. Someone's knocking on your door. Also, there is a quiet trilling sound, a little bit like a cross between a guinea pig and a purring cat.]

Dawn's eyes open as she stands up. Rubbing at little half-moon impressions in her palm, she steps toward the door and turns the latch.

Was it unlocked this whole time? Guess what Dawn? Congrats, you're dumb.

But there's a noise. And, it's not ...bad. It's just---

"Hello?"

Her voice sounds a little gravelly as she speaks, and she clears her throat before doing so again. "...did you bring kittens?"

[There is a short green-haired boy with a small canvas sack and a small purple animal on his shoulder.] . . . no, she's Ruby Carbuncle.

I brought food. [He holds up the canvas sack.] It should still be mostly hot, I live pretty close to here.

Fail? What fail? :D

[Dawn's eyes widen OH MY GOD CUTEST PURPLE ANIMAL EVER and she steps back, blinks and squees] ...Ruby ....Carbuncle? W-what is she?

[Brooding momentarily broken, she smiles, unable to help it.] ...besides so cute! You said your name was Johan, right?

[Opening the door and stepping further back into the dim room, her smile only fading the faintest bit as she motions the green haired boy inside]

Oh my god, thank you, Johan, thank you, thank you. So much. The idea of food was ...ugh ...bad at first but now I think I could really use something to eat. Anything. I don't even---

---there's a table in here...I ran into it earlier. I-I've been afraid to turn the lights on ....well, I assumed there were lights. Stupid, I know.

...how do I turn the lights on?

Jason's at the corner of the street, waiting. He'll go in when he'll have seen Riza go in first - no use startling the kid and. He's not actually eager to the talk that needs to take place.

Riza has never been a doctor. She is a field medic at best, but listening to Dawn over the Forge - each sentence seemingly more disjointed than the next - has gotten her concerned. Why is the horrid door always bringing people in injured like this? And frightened. The voice of this frightened teenage girl had cut through her sure as a knife. She had to do something. To help her. She didn't question why she felt so strongly about this, and she was in no mood for introspection, so she merely followed the sound that presumably Dawn had made and knocked on the door it had come

"Dawn?" She hesistated. Just for a breath. "Is that you?"

[girl_unlocking]

[There's a soft, purring trill coming from behind the door. A trill, a lilt and perhaps, if one listens close enough, a laugh. The door is closed, now. Perhaps of its own accord and no one is the wiser. In any case, if one were to happen upon it, they would find it closed.]

[Dawn turns toward the sound, blinking. The room is somehow less ...ominous in the light, and even though the shadows are merely hiding, the presence of people is enough to pull her back from places inside her mind she'd rather not venture.]

Yes! Yes it's---

[Another muffled laugh as half her face is obscured by a flash of purple, more trilling and a
snuggle.]

So cute!It's me. I mean Dawn. I-is that you? [A pause.] ...Riza?

[A click and the latch gives at the first soft knock - the door slowly opens halfway.]

I have lights now. They're electric.

[firebornfidelis]

Yes, it's me. It's Riza.

[The sounds... are odd. She isn't sure what to make of them, but at least Dawn doesn't sound so frightened.]

I'm glad. About your lights.

[She smiles softly, reassuringly.]

Can I come in?

[girl_unlocking]

[Another odd trilling sound, softer this time, followed by a tiny human giggle.]

Yes. C-come in.

[GAH. SORRY FOR THE DELAY.]

Utena carefully carried the container of noodles as she navigated the broken streets. She figured some food might get the girl back in sorts or at least help. From what she understood, there were a few people showing up there to care for the girl which was a good thing. The way the girl was acting...well, she wasn't sure she could handle it correctly.

Dawn had mentioned Riza. She shouldn't be surprised that Riza was going to help as well. Riza was like that. That's how she'd met her. This was a good sign. Maybe Riza was finally healing from everything that had happened to her.

Utena finally made it back to the outlander apartments. As she stood in the entrance way she saw Riza outside of a door, presumably Dawn's. She walked over and gave Riza a nod in greeting. And waited for the door to open.

He sees Riza going in and up. He count to five minutes, then follow.

The corridor is still as dark as the last time he walked there -when he left. He walks to the only door that has light filtering under and whispers of voices - knocks once.

[girl_unlocking]

[It's like a party, kind of. In a really weird dream. That's probably not a dream and I don't want to think about that right now.]

There's someone else! Should I tell them to---

---I should tell them to come in.

I mean, even if it is an evil thing from the Mist that wants to eat me (or whatever) ...there's kind of like a tiny army in here.

Come in.

We have noodles.

[Jason enters - and takes count. There's Johan with what must by his creature-thing, Riza, Utena and noddles. And little Dawn who's a bit taller than he had imagined, but not by much. That makes it too many people.]

Getting awfully crowded in there -I should come back later.

[girl_unlocking]

[blinks]

I-if you want. Um. Wait. Who are---

---were you sending text messages? You're the one I'm supposed to ask Riza about, right?
