An Early Arrival - a little maze walking too princely_calyx May 26 2010, 05:53:52 UTC
Utena had started out to get to work a little earlier than usual. All the talk on the network about strange mist happenings made her err on the side of caution. She'd only been in the mist once before and wasn't eager to repeat the experience. When she had stepped outside she was greeted by not only mist but walls of it! A giant maze of mist had formed overnight and she had to navigate it somehow to get to work ( ... )

Priscilla and Senji... checking in! Feeel free to talk to either or both on this thread? /shrug! yetsleeping May 26 2010, 23:14:20 UTC
Priscilla steps into the noodle shop, head slightly bowed, pale (even more than she normally is) and shivering despite the relative warm, and even beneath her cloak. She lacks her normal garb today, being dressed for local business - even her sword has been left behind. And she squints her eyes to shield them from the light, covering them with her hand.

She's only been inside for a few seconds when Senji comes in behind her, but by then she's already chosen a seat and slumped down into it, her Forge in her hand, and then set on the table, away from her fingertips.

Riza doesn't know Senji but at least she's sensibly dressed? firebornfidelis May 27 2010, 02:39:38 UTC
The moment she spots Priscilla, Riza is instantly concerned. The young woman doesn't look well, and only now that she thinks about it can Riza vaguely remember hearing her voice over the forge, though thanks to her own confusion she can't remember the substance of the message.

She gets up from her chair and crosses the room, stopping a few steps from where Priscilla sits. She nods politely to the man with her who's face she doesn't recognize and turns her eyes to the girl, a worried crease in her brow.

"Priscilla?" she says softly. "Are you all right? Can I get you anything?"

When Senji looks up, he sees a woman nodding at him... something... Riza, wasn't it? Priscilla's assistant, or whatever. Someone he doesn't know really, so he nods back and prepares to ignore their conversation.

But he's still a little restless from their trip over, and not a little hungry, and after all, Priscilla would be in good hands with Riza there. That much he knew from what he'd been told. So he stands up and drops a hand on Priscilla's head briefly, saying, "'Scuse me, I gotta get my hands on some grub. I'll be back soon."

And he goes to leave... but as he passes by Riza he adds, almost under his breath, "Keep an eye on her," before continuing on.

Priscilla follows Senji with her entire head, rolling it to the side and back, keeping him in her sight until he moves too far away. By then, she's drawn her knees to her chest, although she doesn't quite remember doing it, or why she did it. But her heels are resting on the edge of her chair, and her chin rests on her knees, and she looks at Riza for a long moment before she takes a deep breath. Before she can even begin to find her voice.

"No, no... I'm... all right. It's just..."

She glances at the window and the odd, translucent white universe beyond it.

"The trip here was a little... harried."

This was the first door Riza had seen in... well who knew how long. She wasn't sure when she had left her room and gone out into the mist, or even why, just that her legs were tired and she had seen dark expanses of sand. And blood. And bodies. She wasn't sure which of the things she had seen were real and which were hallucinations, and perhaps that was the most disconcerting thing about it. That, and the feeling of being watched by something hungry.

She was glad for the shelter and made her way quietly toward a table near the windows. The mist was thick but she stared into it through the relative protection of the glass. She had no real desire to go back out there - and no way to know if she could get herself home if she did - but she hated sitting still at a time like this.

"Thanks for letting me know you found some place safe." Sarcasm dripped from the statement but also a smile on her face. As much as it annoys her that Riza hadn't called her, she's just relieved that she's okay.

She puts some tea in front of Riza. She gives a brief once over to make sure Riza isn't wounded.

"Can I get you anything else? Some food?" She noticed Riza's gazing into the mist.

"And it's best not to stare into the mist too long. Then it gets to you in here as well."

"Excuse me?" she said, Utena's sarcastic tone dragging her eyes away from the mist she had not yet cleared from her head. She stared at the pink haired girl for a moment, eyes clouded with confusion, before recognizing her. She set her teeth.

"Utena. I would have called you." As soon as I could remember who you were.

She was grateful for the tea. Wrapping her fingers around the ceramic cup and feeling the heat soak into her hands made her feel less shaky, less confused.

"I'm not hungry, thank you," she said, staring down into the liquid in her cup. The thought of food was enough to make her feel ill.

She made no comment on Utena's warning about the mist. She knew that already. It could still affect you even if you weren't out there in the middle of it. She felt like it had seeped into her head and she couldn't quite clear it out.

Tightening her fingers around the cup, she looked up at Utena again, eyes and voice both earnest though her mouth was a grim line.

"I'm glad you're safe." A pause. "Did you come here through all that?"

"Mm," she gave a nod, "I'm glad you're safe too. You were hallucinating again." She kept her voice quiet, not that she thought anyone would really listen to their conversation.

"It's really weird out there today. Has the mist ever done anything like this before?"

Utena caught herself staring at the mist and looked away quickly.

"It actually wasn't that bad to me. All it did was, well, lead me here. And watch me." The last bit was added with a frown. She hadn't liked that bit at all. She put a hand on Riza's shoulder.

"If you need anything, let me know." Her hand slid off as she slipped away into the crowd, trying to keep the hungry mob at bay.

It's not the Undercity, but after walking the maze for as long as he has, Quatre makes no complaints of entering the restaurant. The chance to rest in an actual seat is a welcome change from the maze. He doesn't wait for Jason, either; he finds the closest place to sit and rests his head against the wall, closing his eyes.

[ ooc: for anyone that may approach Quatre, please fill this out, ty! ]

That peace and quiet isn't going to last for long--the noise is just the sound of a banging door, but if Quatre looks up, he's going to see a Johan just inside the door, looking around expectantly. After a full thirty seconds or so--apparently he really believes what he's looking for is there--his shoulders slump, and he turns back toward the door, holding out a hand to push it open before hesitating. It's cold and hard to see out there, but he's pretty sure he needs to buy something to stay here and while he actually has money for once (surprise!), he's not sure it's enough to purchase anything to eat . . . or stare at, since he seriously just lost his appetite.

Quatre actually does not look; he's dead tired, and anyone that looks at him for even a second could see it. (He's paler than usual, and there are dark circles under his eyes; he just looks overwhelmingly stressed.) But he recognizes the feeling of Johan's presence, so he twists enough in his seat to be heard when he calls the other boy's name.

Johan turns back, and Quatre might feel the anticipation in his mind as he does, ready to call out a name that's right in the front of his mind. Then he sees Quatre, and that anticipation collapses back into the resigned attitude of a moment ago. No reason to be rude, though, so he comes over to Quatre's table. If he's not as fast or as perky as usual, put it down to the mist--for a variety of reasons.

"Hey," he greets. "I didn't expect to see you again."

Haji hadn't intended to arrive anywhere. When he'd began his exploration, he'd intended to find out what he could and retreat to the ruins, but the Mist seemed to have other plans.

When he found the ramen shop, he'd only reluctantly entered, bandaged hand wrapped around a special sword with groves and a glittering red stone while the other held the strap to his cello case. He understood very little about the people here and even less about what was going on, but he needed a breather before he moved back out to find his way 'home'.

Over, away from all those gathered, he set his case down and proceeded to put that sword away in the hidden compartment.

Utena, after trying to make sure everyone easy to see was served and all right, spotted a man- with...a cello case?- in the corner. She picked up some hot tea and placed a cup in front of him.

"Hi there. Can I get you anything else? My name's Utena." She gave a warm smile.
