[Luckily for Sebastian, Ciel doesn't pay too much attention to his butler's prompt appearance. True, he's usually speedy with his service, but this is a bit more hasty than usual. The Earl doesn't question it, as he's up to his little nose in paperwork and debt. The boy sighs heavily before lifting his gaze to the door.]

Come in.

[His stomach rumbles. Yeah, definitely snack time.]

I can't believe all the work that's piled up. I don't think I'll sleep tonight.

[Ciel still doesn't take notice to Sebastian's strange behavior... not yet. His mind is on work, work, and a bit of hunger. Something like what Sebastian is thinking, but completely different. Of course. The Earl moves to pick up the utensils, and takes occasional bites of the snack in between speaking. He's not looking up at his butler, though, and is instead entirely wrapped up in the paperwork before him.]

I heard a short while about a pair of twins who supposedly have some influence over the city. Do you know anything about them?

[Both he and Sebastian are consumed with their own manners of business. Ciel just assumes that the demon's business is the same as his own.]

[Sebastian's eyes follow the fork from the plate to the boy's mouth and then back down again. If Ciel were looking, his butler might resemble a dog begging for table scraps. And no, it's not doing anything for his appetite. If anything, watching the thing nourish itself just makes him hungrier.

How easy it would be to snap the fragile neck. Crush the skull between his hands. Even push through the ribcage and grab hold of the beating heart. On his own, Ciel is barely stronger than a sapling. If he chose, the demon could snap him in two.

The only thing stopping him is a word. Contract. Spoken enough times, that too became a meaningless sound. Like all human speech.]

They seem to be the cornerstone of the city. Many... cultural aspects of the natives' lives are dedicated to them.

[Sebastian can mimic human speech with the best of them. He kneels on one knee beside Ciel, takes the napkin laid out beside the plate, and uses it to dab at the corner of the boy's mouth.I once saw an opera about them. A black swan and a white swan for ( ... )
