The sensation of apparating was both familiar and almost distressingly different than what he was used to. It was almost as though this place was doing something to their magic ( ... )

[She sees Draco's head turn from within the distorted glass, all gauze and vague reflective (Magic Mirror - the shopkeep had lied, she could see nothing of their location or fates in its surface) hears his voice - his question. Answers.]

We are likely as far away as can be imagined. This place. [Scowl.] There is no reference for it in our world.

[Voice low, unsettled. It is the only thing that she agrees with Lupin on, though she will not credit him when she spits back his theories. All the less work for her, and better he beneath her heel.]

It is my belief that He has sent me here to find new ...weapons for His armies. It was in battle that I arrived here.

[Chin inclines, long neck curves as she offers a frightening smile.]

I was fighting at His side! [Another snort and a sneer at the name] Lupin? He was left cold before I passed through that Door, and his half-blood bitch wife, too. [She's really grinning here, Draco. Right at you.] Cursed the breath out of that one myself ( ... )

[There's a sigh here, and another scowl. To tell him about the first battle or no? Part of it is a matter of pride, an unwillingness to admit, even to her nephew, that some ...one, some thing had gotten the best of her. Of course, if she doesn't tell him, he could end up in a world of hurt. If he had the stones to use an Unforgivable at all...]

There was a boy, [and she's back to speaking him through the mirror again, frowning at the misty backdrop it paints behind them.] when I first arrived. Not much older than you. Interrupted me when I was teaching a muggle a lesson. The boy? Got up from a Killing Curse. Stood up. Smiled at me.

[Kind of like how she's smiling at you now.]

I'm curious about his insides. They felt somehow different when I was within his mind.

[The books' titles can be partially read from this distance - two of them, anyway. They look like some form of Latin: the word Veneficus on one and Histori---something or other on the other.]

Yes. Things are different. Some of these things ( ... )
