Namine was not of noble birth, let alone real birth. For one who was made of nothing, food and drink were needed but not necessarily craved, so it was an odd feeling to be so hungry.

She paused from her drawings, glancing up when she felt someone's eyes on her. Normally, no one paid her any attention. Normally, she would have been completely ignored -- she had not physically met any of the other 'outworlders', as she had heard them called, and only native Anatolians populated her current view of the city. She didn't expect them to talk to her, anyway.

But someone looking at her was a new enough sensation that she had to look up. Slate gray eyes with no affection met her own blue ones, and she blinked, not quite sure how to react -- but her fingers did, and she began to scribble, slashing broken-black-crayon lines along the page in an imitation of the shape of the cold-looking man's hair.

He wasn't quite sure what it was about her that caught his attention. He didn't usually bother to try and understand those he planned on leaving behind the first chance he received, but perhaps it was the lack of irritating people clogging up the network, or the lack of the abrasive language of Zaraki that made the silent days odd and slightly unnerving.

He turned away from his map and back towards the girl who'd gone to drawing, he assumed, staring at him as if he were on some display. He was used to being watched, stared at, but never had he remembered someone looking at him while they played around with strange tools he'd never seen before.

He lifted his chin imperceptibly and stared a moment longer before he decided this situation was worthy of further investigation. "Have you business with me?" It seemed to be one of those things he said a lot recently, but there wasn't much else one could say in such a situation. He didn't care for scrutiny from some stranger. He had enough keeping these hapless natives out of trouble.

She scribbled hastily. Black and white was easy to finish, and the picture came together quickly. One memory that was captured. It wouldn't be of any use, most likely, but even if it wasn't, it was still fun to draw passersby and create a tiny scrapbook of her time there.

She put the finishing touches on it, peering down at her sketchbook. Childish and scribbly, but it was her drawings, and that was all that mattered, right?

A shadow fell over her, and a voice she'd never heard before sounded just over her. What... who was that? She glanced up cautiously, then bit her lip a little. "I'm sorry. Did I bother you?" She folded her hands over the picture, scooting back on the pot a little so she could see him better. Ah, so it wasn't hair, it was little... sticks? What a curious little accessory...
