Sasori heard the warning in his Deidara's tone, could feel the tension in Deidara's body...but he ignored it, his grip not loosening in the slightest.

"I'm not letting you run away from me again."

What happened next, happened fast, and without any hesitation, as if Deidara was working purely on instinct. He dropped his weight down, turned his wrist, grabbed a hold of Sasori's and yanked. The momentum would carry them both until they were face to face with each other, Deidara's other hand shooting up to grab Sasori's shirt front and feet already moving to throw his weight upon the smaller shinobi.

The wall came up from behind Sasori, rising to catch him shoulders first. Deidara pressed in right after, putting his weight on the impact. The burst of action seemed almost unreal in the stillness that followed, blue eyes hard, staring down at his partner.

"I am not running away from you. I am right here."

Violence came as naturally to Sasori as breathing after decades as a shinobi. This? This was something he understood and was comfortable dealing with, unlike the conflicting emotions that had worried at him for weeks. There was a certain clarity of thought that overcame him whenever he was thrust into a hostile situation, and he welcomed it now.

As soon as his back hit the wall, Sasori's free hand snapped up over the wrist of the one fisted in his shirt; he shifted on his feet, prepared to counterattack should it prove necessary. Yet even now, with anger burning in Deidara's eyes, instinct still made Sasori trust his partner enough to allow this bit of manhandling. Deidara might get rough with him, might injure him...but wouldn't kill him.

And besides, with each of them holding fast to the other, neither of them was going anywhere for the moment, which suited Sasori's purposes just fine.

He met Deidara's gaze without flinching. "Well then, since you're right here, why don't you start talking?"

"Won't you just fucking shut up!"

Deidara didn't want to talk about it, that much was obvious.

His words, snappish and sharp, were punctuated with a yank and a push, throwing Sasori again against the wall. There was nothing to be afraid of, however, he'd never hurt Sasori without a reason far greater than his own discomfort. Nevertheless hurting and throwing a few punches were not quite the same thing. Both of them were well trained, living and breathing more and more powerful techniques to make the blood flow faster...

This here was nothing.

"I'm taking that bath, now," Deidara murmured somewhat softly, his voice dangerously still and eerily calm. That was the only warning Sasori would get, that and the flicker of something cold within Deidara's eyes, like a twist of insanity, or sanity maybe in his case.

The blond pulled back fast, trying to yank his hands free, fully prepared to struggle for his freedom.

"You aren't going anywhere until we've settled this," Sasori snapped, keeping his grip tight.

It didn't occur to him that maybe he was being a little too stubborn, a little too harsh; that maybe it might be better to acquiesce and let Deidara calm himself before trying again. He was too far gone for that, wanting this problem dealt with, and growing more and more frustrated that Deidara kept struggling and dodging the issue. And maybe deep down there was also a little knot of anxiety that fueled his tenacity.

If I let go I'll lose him again.

Spurred by that tiny voice of fear in the back of his mind Sasori surged forwards, keeping close and attempting to hook his foot around to sweep Deidara off his feet and down to the floor. He'd tie the idiot down with chakra threads and sit on his chest if that's what it took to get Deidara to stay in one spot and finally talk.
