[There's a click, followed by a soft "Ah." A moment's pause, and a male voice starts in, brightly.]
This is some sort of phone, isn't it? It's pretty different from the ones I'm used to [a brief laugh] but it seems pretty useful!
[His voice looses some energy.] So, is there anyone who could tell me where I am?

The newspaper guy. Christ. It's the month for memoryloss, apparently.
[ Whoops that was mostly a personal aside, he didn't really mean to broadcast it. ]
You're in Anatole. The device is called a Forge.

But he just sounds puzzled.]
Pardon?

Ah- what did you mean about memory loss?

Unfortunately, you're not in your own world any longer, sir. This city is called Anatole and as far as we can tell, it's the only city still populated on this world.

[There's a pause, and when he speaks again he sounds a touch skeptical.] But how did I get here?

It's said we're brought here through 'the Door' though if that's true, then I think the Door must house a passage that bridges realities because there's no other way for all of us to be in the same place.

The problem, of course, is that it makes no sense.]
I'm afraid I never really did well with physics. [a sheepish laugh] Are you saying we've been...brought to a different dimension? [is that the right way of phrasing it?]

Like you, I don't know where I am. Have you been having unusual headaches too?

Have a pleasantly puzzled voice.]
Hmm? No, I feel fine.

Strange. I guess it's just me experiencing that. Probably from when I hit my head on the door of the infirmary.

[A little more slowly and seriously than he's been speaking.] Are you alright?

[Have a smile, stranger. More amused than friendly, though.]
You're in Anatole, with the rest of us. And no, it's not near wherever you were last.
