[It's just Quorra's voice on the Forge this time, low and curiously toneless.]

He's gone.

He's gone and all I have left are the books...

[A sharp intake of breath. Her voice wavers, almost breaks, as if she's trying very hard to hold back tears.]

...I don't want them any more.

It's not fair. I didn't even get to say goodbye.

[I'm sorry, did you say books?]

What kind of books?

All kinds. Fiction, non-fiction, autobiographical. But they're not important any more. [Which is strange now she thinks about it, because she'd been going out of her mind last month without them. That desire hadn't lasted long, and now? Well, now she's read them all. At least twice.]

Anymore? Why?

[Books and music kept her sane after Lupin had left her. Pardo her for beig opportunistic, but...]

You don't want them?

More like...I know I don't need them any more. There are a couple I'd like to keep, but for the most part, no. I don't want all of them.

...Would you like some? You'll probably have to give the library ones back eventually, though.

[There's a long stretch of silence before Quorra answers.]

...It's okay. These things happen. [She's composed herself slightly, but she still sounds extremely unhappy about it.]

They do. But they suck. And I hate it. [The bad ones hardly ever leave, and when they do they just ...come back.] Would it make you feel better to punch the bag? There's a bag that...

...maybe a roof run?

[You know. For Rex. And Ezio. God, this place.]

...

[Quorra's been dealing with the disappearance of the first friend she'd ever made here...very quietly. Flynn's absence has brought all of it to the fore, though, and it's starting to get overwhelming.]

No. I...don't think that would help. Thank you for the suggestion, though.

The Creator. [It takes her a second to realize nobody here would know who she's talking about when she says that.] Flynn. He is - he was - my mentor. [He'd always kept to himself, even here, but his complete and sudden absence is jarring after over a thousand cycles of cohabitation.]

Thank you. I... [Don't know what else to say. There's a deep sigh.]

Nothing lasts forever, I guess.

[Oh. Hearing her sound like this is... painful.]

You're not the only one missing somebody in the city tonight, Quorra-kun.

You didn't lose Emily, did you?

Heh heh. No, not Emily.

[She might be the only one left with him, in the end.]

A close friend. One of the first I made in Anatole. I was quite indebted to her for the kindness she bestowed me.

[She saved him from a nearly mortal wound with her magical healing hair. Among other things.]

And who did you lose, my dear?

The closest I've had to family in a very long time.

[The words are fairly cavalier, but his expression isn't.]

Fancy that bike ride?

[There's no immediate answer. In fact, it's not totally clear if Quorra's even heard him - until her voice sounds, soft but clear.]

Yes.

[It's exactly the sort of reckless, irresponsible thing she knows she shouldn't do, exactly the sort of thing Flynn would caution her against.

But he's not here now.]
