[Damn. Just when he was hoping Ciel was the only one who had noticed the broadcast. And of course Verity would understand the social implications of working in a circus.]
If I said yes, would you think less of me, Miss Kindle?
[His tone is measured and cautious, perhaps almost sheepish. At least Ciel hadn't appeared there with him; an earl in a circus would be a great deal more difficult to explain.]
[Well, now her shock is amusing, so there's no point passing off the entire thing as fantasy. She could suspect him of worse things than being a circus performer. His voice softens slightly.]
Then I suppose I'll let you in on a secret and confess that I have not always held a position as respectable as a butler.
[That's certainly the truth! But, now, how much to implicate Spears in all of this. Sebastian could just simply say no, but... well. Spears did call him "stupid" recently.]
Not exactly. But we did cross paths there. Although not particularly friendly ones, as I'm sure this indicates.

[At least your butler suffered through the learning curve without you and now can help you out. Kind of.]
I find the mission less unpleasant than the device's decision to broadcast a portion of it to strangers. But at least the memory itself is harmless.

Did you really work for a circus, Sebastian?
[It's half a joke. Sebastian doesn't really seem the type. Mr Spears even less so.]
