[Verity seems to already be fairly accustomed to her new living situation. She’s sitting in a big comfortable-looking chair, with a big comfortable-looking
bulldog snuggled into her lap. It seems to be slightly on the crowded side up there and her lap is a bit dwarfed by the animal laying on her but he’s snuffling happily and she pets his head with

[She raises the bulldog's head in her hands and his tongue lolls out and he pants, making his jowly face seem almost to be smiling. She smiles too.]
See how handsome? How could you not be flattered?

A mare? What is she called? Arthuria?
At least Arthur Watson is male!

[By 'lucky' she means 'persistent.'
She pets the dog, her small hand coming to rest on his big, heavy shoulders.]
He seems like an Arthur, doesn't he?

[Just so she can sort of... get an idea of how much it might be safe to tell him. She already gets the feeling that, if he is from her world or one similar, he is definitely from a time later than she is, but it can't hurt to be careful.]

I'm quite convinced that it is not random at all, either. Though, this is vastly different from the last time I was, ah... removed from my timeline.

You've been removed from your timeline before? Do you know the reasons for it?
[Because even if they don't seem to be related incidents, the continuum is complex. You never do know.]

[To put it as simply as possible. Yes, he still resents the Ellimist a great deal, though he can recognize the necessity of his actions.]
To my knowledge, I have not engaged with any being in this place yet who may be responsible for bringing people here, which is in part why I do not think this is an entirely similar situation to my prior experience with such a thing. But, as you said, with the number of people familiar with others here, it cannot be random, either.
But not knowing the force behind this phenomenon makes me... wary. And if it is a sentient force, I wish to know why they are doing this, what they are getting out of it. With the Ellimist--the godlike being I spoke of--with him, at least, I did eventually discover the purpose for which he had maneuvered me.
What is your experience with this type of situation?
