14th Task || Sebastian Michaelis [Voice]

[There is a long pause before Sebastian speaks. And when he does, his tone is not quite as clear and direct as it usually is. Instead, he sounds a tad vague and distant.Perhaps this is not the place in which to inquire, but... I am curious. Has anyone else who received doses of the elf toxin experienced any lasting effects ( Read more... )

[Ciel catches those looks sometimes. He may be imagining them, really. Sebastian is so skilled at hiding his true nature, of course. But... when he looks up at that tall shadow of a man every so often, the boy catches a glimpse of what his butler really is. And what he's sold his soul to.

Not that it particularly bothers him. He's safe behind the contract. Today, he's also a bit hungry. The video reveals Ciel to still be at his desk, looking a little more tired and busy than he's been.]

Some sort of snack. I've been working all day.

[He yawns. Yup, definitely more tired than usual.]

That's all.

[Yes, he usually is good at hiding it. But yesterday and today he has felt so hungry, in the way that is becoming difficult to ignore. The harder he tries, the worse he feels. And it's not the same feeling as being drunk, or being under the direct influence of the elf toxin. It is, dare he say, fevered and dizzy. And it only serves to intensity the hunger.

He can barely keep the delight out of his voice.]

As you wish, sir. I shall be by shortly.

[Very shortly.]

I'm feeling a bit ill myself. Though I don't know whether I can blame it on the elves' poison, because I felt all right for a bit before this.

[All right physically at least. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't still jumping at shadows.]

I do still intend to move in as planned, provided I'm feeling well enough by the first. Although, I should let you know there's been a slight change in my situation since we last spoke. We did discuss animals when I was viewing the house and you said you were not averse to dogs. Considering that I am a woman alone in a strange and unusually dangerous city, I'm sure you can understand my desire for a little extra protection.

[She turns the video on for a moment and, lying sprawled across her legs on the bed is a fully grown bulldog.]

He is house trained and very well behaved, so he won't cause you any trouble. But I did think it right to let you know. Everything else is still as we discussed.

[Meaning she still has the cat and she's stilling willing to keep her a secret.]

Are you? I am sorry to hear that. I too didn't feel this way until recently, but I suppose I didn't want to rule out any delayed effects. It was a very potent drug, as I understand.

[Not to alarm you or anything. But oh, the dog. B|]

Of course that would be fine, Miss Kindle.

[Although he does gaze, distastefully, at the creature without turning on his own video function. He's not so fond of dogs because they don't seem so fond of him. Besides, they lack the beauty and elegance of cats. Ah, cats... what he wouldn't give to have one to pet right now. That might be enough to distract him from the gnawing in his stomach. Wait, he's still talking to Verity. After a pregnant pause, he speaks again.]

Please tell me if there is anything I can do to help, if you are still feeling ill by next Thursday.

Oh yes, I hadn't thought of that. Delayed effects are possible. Particularly since I don't feel quite right. Or I suppose I mean to say that this illness doesn't feel quite the same way as a common cold. There's something... odd about it.

[And it doesn't help that she's pining for Ned worse than the entire previous two months. She's a grown and independent woman, and though she does love him there is really no need to feel so desperately lost without him.]

Thank you, Sebastian, I shall keep that in mind. I really haven't very much luggage to move - just some clothing and a rather large hatbox.

[With a cat in it.]

The real question will be if I can move myself across town.

[Oh. Hm. Well, that ups his suspicions that the two are related.]

I agree. Feeling this way is out of the ordinary for me, as well.

[Not because he's had a cold before. But because he hasn't.]

That is good to hear. [A slight smirk at the mention of the hatbox. It's not too much of a stretch to imagine what might be carried inside one of those.] Well, whatever is ailing us, I do hope it passes soon, and I will see you presently.

Not me. But my metabolism's always been weird.

...Maybe you're working too hard?

[That was actually a joke. She was trying to cheer you up, Sebastian.]

[Hm. That's suspicious. But maybe it works differently on a demon's system than a human's? Sebastian is not used to trying to think of himself in medical terms. It's anyone's guess what could be wrong with him.]

No, I don't think that is it.

[Joke? What joke? He's too busy trying to self-diagnose. And ignore that terrible hunger.]

But... thank you for your input, Miss Elena.

That is odd. But at the very least, I am not the only one.

[Lelouch had a shot of the toxin too, didn't he? Very curious indeed.]

I do hope it is nothing serious.

[Symptoms. They're a little hard to describe, having never felt them before.]

I feel... a bit too warm. [Which is strange, because his tolerant to heat is usually excellent.] Perhaps a touch dizzy. And distractible.

[And hungry. Unbearably hungry. But that's not worth mentioning, as it's a constant. He's just usually better at ignoring it.]

Do you feel the same?

[Side-eyes this. Smiles. Then can't not say it.]

I can think of better things to be under.

...

May I help you, Miss Lust?

[Because, you know. It is a bit odd that you're coming on this strong after nearly two months of no contact. Besides, he'd never want to publicly acknowledge any kind of... transgression.]

[Tch. Not that odd for her. She's so mercurial these days that she doesn't even notice. Well, that and a little episode with being briefly human and still remembering it.]

Are you asking my permission?

[Because that's kind of hot, actually. Headtilt.]

[True, but she was acting rather human and heartbroken that one particular night. He still hasn't quite pegged her, behaviour-wise. And besides, he was fine never speaking of it again. The sudden remembrance of not only his existence, but... well, the other stuff, is unexpected. He's just curious about her renewed interest.

...And cautious. He switches the feed to private before answering.]

I am asking for clarity.
