[Labored breathing punches through. There is no visual to accompany the sounds, but the voice itself should be familiar enough to most residents.]
I...I'm in the...the ruins?
[Hello? It's Kunsel. Hello, hello? Can you hear me? Is this thing on? I don't want to be alone...]
A-any medics got a minute? I think I [-static-] please

[hi, recognize this guy? ...well, nevermind that.]
You're cutting out. There must be interference. Are you...
[...okay?]
[is that really a thing to ask a guy who was just dead, Angel.]

I'm [-static-] you saw that. But don't [-static-] about it, okay? I'll...I just need some rest.
Anyway...it's the Mist. [It's always the Mist.]
At least I...think it is. Interferes with the Forge.

[of course it does.]
Don't-- you're not the one who should apologize. Right now we need to find a way to get you out of there. Hopefully you're not too far in - can you see anything? A building, some kind of landmark...?
[so help him Kunsel he is going to save your ass this time.]

[He steadies the Forge to try and lessen the effects of the Mist on the device.]
Mist is pretty dense, but...no hallucinations, no monsters. I think that means level one? I don't think I'm far from town.

[she'd heard that Anatole had a whole resurrection thing, but... nothing beats seeing it for herself. And maybe it shouldn't be so weird to Miss Twice Raised herself, but... even so, she stares at the Forge for a good 45 seconds before she hits record.]
Kunsel?
Can't say I don't know the value of a good accessory. Where is it?

[Ow, ow, ow! Tone down the enthusiasm, dummy.]
I...I don't know where it is. I woke up here and it was gone.

...you're not... naked, are you? Because, nakedness is a concern.

Kunsel...
[ Is there any point to saying more? ]
Irene... she has your helmet. I'll find it.
[ And she, too, will leave her Forge on, even just to listen to his breathing. Don't you dare go anywhere. ]

[There are so many things he wants to say.]
[I'm sorry. I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to disappear, especially without saying goodbye, but people were in trouble. They would have died if I hadn't...if I hadn't distracted the elves long enough for them to get away. I wish I could have told you. Something. Anything. Anything at all. Clare...]
[It's good to hear your voice again.]
Th-thanks. Everyone's doing so much... Shiva, this is kind of uncool of me, huh?

[ She wouldn't be able to see, and now the pretense would be pointless, but it's the thought that counts. Right? ]

Then I'd have to pretend that you maybe...knew who Shiva was. Back home there are entities that we can summon for battle from magical spheres known as materia. Shiva is an ice goddess. See the connection?

[See what he did there? :|a]
Except for the part where I feel like sleeping forever.

How 'bout a drink? That might wake you up.
On the house, of course.

Yeah, I'd like that. When my sorry backside's back in town that is.

Her tone is sure and measured - a lot more sure and measured than she actually is, but that's the benefit of voice over video. The relief and shock (equal parts by the way) go unseen. But probably not unfelt, to those who can feel that sort of thing.]
What do you see?
[Helm in hand, out the door and heading into the Mist at its closest point of entry.]

...and that I am in dire need of a bath. There is dirt under the dirt under my fingernails.
[He laughs weakly...and then a little more solidly despite that it hurts him to do so. He doesn't want Irene to worry too much.]
I think...I'm near the edge of the ruins, Irene.
Reply
Also, it's kind of a long curve of an edge. But she's sweeping it as fast as she can. Which is like, pretty fast.]
The dirt will wash away.
[The rest? Man, who knows. But she'll stop at the first sign of a human shape. She'll double-take, because even though she's holding his helmet, it hasn't quite dawned on her that she should be looking for someone without a helmet. It's Kunsel. He is one with it. It's just part of who he is.]
