It is Merlin. If allowed to, a Dementor can drain a person's soul. They're alive, technically speaking.

I suppose it would depend on how one defines the term "monsters." One might consider murders, rapists and the like as monsters. My world has plenty of those.

Human beings are fairly capable of being monsters in their own right.

Very much so. My job back home involves aiding in the investigation and capture of such people.

Jail time. Execution. It's up to the courts and the Justice System really, to decide.

They're giant scorpions. Poisonous, and they hurt. Not to mention they always travel in numbers.

There are worse weapons to use besides swords and magic. Just depends on the kind of monster.

Things that should be used to help people, but aren't always. I guess that's what makes them so powerful as weapons.
