[Tseng is sitting against a blank wall, looking much improved. Except...older. It isn't horribly noticeable, but there are a few more lines around his eyes and mouth. It seems like he's had a million worries in only a couple of weeks.]It seems that I've...come across another side effect here during my illness. I...remember more than I used to. A ( Read more... )

So... you remember things that even I don't remember.

[ Why is that, I wonder? Why are some of us taken from points in our lives that don't coincide with the lives of others from our world that have wound up here? Is is... to torment us? Is it entirely coincidental? ]

[ Kunsel hums aloud thoughtfully. ]

I don't suppose you'd feel like being liberal with what you recall...?

I don't...recall anything relating to you. Sephiroth killed the President. Summoned Meteor...most of the SOLDIERs were killed.

[He thinks on that because wouldn't that include Kunsel? But he doesn't remember it. Remembers thinking of him, searching files but...]

I don't know if you were there.

...I wasn't asking because I wanted to know what was in store for me, Tseng.

[ Although, that tidbit of information tells him the likely fate of Luxiere, as well as all of the other members of SOLDIER and all of the men that Zack helped to inspire... ]

What you remember, it doesn't sound like a bright future. Isn't there anything... good?

[ He wants the details surrounding all of it, but first... he wants to know that it's not all terrible. He wants to know that lives weren't lost for nothing. ]

ShinRa falls and rises again. A disease is created and destroyed...the world is saved. [He smiles suddenly, because he remembers what he really wanted to know all along.]

Rufus is president. A good president. Getting better...not throwing lives away needlessly.

[Then he reins himself in a little, finally remembering who he is talking to.] So good comes of it all. Yes. Life goes on as it always has.

You remember years more of memories? Did you previously have amnesia?

I...previously remembered only to a certain point before I had lived to. I was still that age. I seem to have aged and retrieved the memories to go with it.

...that makes very little sense, I realize.

Little of this world makes any concrete "sense."

This is very true. I suppose I should count my blessings nothing worse happened.

I know you. But I can't remember how, exactly.

[Frustrated blink and a huff to match.]

I know this place, Anatole. But I remember nothing ...before it. Excepting that there was a before.

You are ill?

We've spoken before. Here. Over the natives.

I caught an infection in an old wound; it is doing much better now. You don't remember your time here?

[Because this sounds like the set up of a bad joke...]

The Natives. [Oh, yes. People of mostly low birth? Probably all of them, but ...it's not as if they were...

Well, this was interesting. There's definite hate for them, but she's not sure why. Lacking memories of anything not in Anatole, she's starting to think that maybe she was born here. Part of the ruling class?]

Ah.

[...]

It is good that you are healing. I may be able to assist? I seem to harbor no ill feelings for you, so I would be willing to lend a hand should you need it. I recall using something on my own injuries that...

...I remember my time here. The Door. The Forge. Shouting at what was obviously people's ignorance. But nothing before that.

It makes no sense. I clearly remember our conversation, but I don't remember why it started. I do remember that you said you would lend your support, and for that I am grateful.

I thank you for your offer and I'll certainly consult you if I have any more unfortunate set backs. I'm on the mend now so as soon as my head puts itself into order I'll be quite well.

This place does odd things to us all. Perhaps you have a certain sense of amnesia as well and will regain your memories? I'm afraid I haven't known you for very long and can't help tell you what has changed.

Sir?

[She just stares at the video for a long moment, takes note of the details - his recovery, his face, his hair.]

Oh...

[It's as speechless as she gets.]

...I assume you weren't expecting this either. And that this isn't a result of your medical skills.

No Sir, my skills aren't nearly that...advanced.

[Is that the right word to use here? She isn't sure of that either.]

How do you feel?

I feel...fine. A bit confused but I'd assume that is to be expected.

Is that normal? [She is kneeling down somewhere - the girl likes to wander - and her head is tilted to the side.] What's Geostigma?

I haven't the slightest idea what constitutes normal in this place.

Me neither. [Her expression falls.] That...sounds horrible. [She doesn't bother hiding a small shudder of disgust.] Is it painful?

Reply

[Video] fingersloophole February 3 2011, 05:48:57 UTC
I never had it. However my employer seemed to suffer greatly with it so I would assume it is painful.

[He changed bandages and administered medications. He knows people died of it. But personal experience is what he wants to relate everything to.] Don't trouble yourself, Miss. I'm sure it wouldn't have followed us here.
