a family is an animal. try cutting a piece out of it and tell it to keep living. it can only look at you in hurting disbelief. it does go on it has to learn anew. if you cut into it too often or in the right/wrong place it will die. unlike any other animal, its component parts can survive and go their own ways. they will remember what they used to
