As someone who's been around women for a relatively large portion of their life and has gotten to know a few of the slightly more... random aspects... some of which come from personal experience, I'm going to be as honest about this as possible.
If you expect a lighter color to take on dark hair, you'll probably have to strip the original color first. Otherwise, you'll most likely get a black that has a pinkish sheen in sunlight. And unless you take care to strip it out properly, you'll end up with an orange hue that will look absolutely terrible and quite possibly make your hair frizzy and brittle, in which case pink might only accentuate the problem.
However... I can't say that I actually know anybody who's dyed their hair pink.
