[The Forge is accidentally turned on as Guy fiddles with the buttons.]

-ontech doing in a place like this? Not that I even know where I am, of course... but it sure looks like fontech. Wonder what it does... hmm...

[Fiddle fiddle. In five minutes he'll be looking for a screwdriver to take it apart. |D]

Guy!

[He sounds...rather overexcited. Of course, he can't seem too eager now, so he quickly amends] Uh...hey.

You're here too, huh?

Yeah, this thing...lets us talk to other people who ended up here.

I think that one guy called it, uh...Anatole? Yeah. We're not in Malkuth anymore, apparently...

Oh, it's a communication device. That's amazing! There's nothing like that in Kimlasca at all.

Malkuth? When did you go to Malkuth? I thought you were still back in Yulia City! At least, that's what Asch said.

I... suggest not destroying it. [He's really not interested in hearing about a guy who destroyed his only means of communication.]

Welcome to Anatole. Population increasing, middle of killer fog. Enjoy your time here, it's going to be some time before we get to leave.

Destroy it!? No way! I'd never destroy an advanced machine like this!

Anatole, though? That's not a name I'm familiar with. Maybe it's something related to the Qliphoth...?

Hm. [He doesn't sound like he believes him.]

Hope not. It's a whole different world from yours.

A... different world? But how's that possible?

It's wonderful that you've met a comrade already!

[pause]

O-oh, my name's Miranda Lotto and...well you can say that I'm in the same boat as you.

Ah, that's unfortunate! But it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Miranda. I'm Guy.

Likewise Sir Guy! I-if you have any questions, feel free to ask me anything!

Well, I guess my first question would be if you have any advice for a newcomer to the city.

As I think you've noticed, it's a communication device. I think the people here call them a "Forge".

What's "fontech"?

oh honey, good luck shutting him up jewelofgardios November 25 2009, 09:05:28 UTC
Forge, huh? I'll remember that, thanks!

Oh, you don't know? Fontech is 'fonic technology', which is the use of fonons in mechanical devices! It's the epitome of technology on Auldrant, which is where I'm from. The uses of fontech vary, but most of the time it's used to build fon machines. They're the source of the world's development and prosperity!

oh dear. |D marked_songbird November 25 2009, 09:09:03 UTC
No problem at all.

We have technology back home as well, but I've never of "fon machines". You sound like you know a lot about them though. [she's a little amused by this]

Well, yeah. Fontech is my favourite hobby! I love working on fon machines- the intricate details and the effort that goes into making them is really incredible!

Somehow I'm guessing it records your voice and ships it off into the great beyond where many interested and disinterested parties are treated to your wondering what the fuck it does.

So I've learned.

Good. We wouldn't want you accidentally broadcasting anything humiliating, after all.

I wouldn't want that either, of course. Does that happen often?
