Good luck not getting them trampled on by the circumstances here. You'll just taken advantage of if you're so self-sacrificing.

[It's not that he's being selfish, only practical. He'd protect someone in immediate danger from a monster, yes, but he isn't going to go searching for monsters with only the remote possibility that someone might be in danger. That's not brave or honorable to him. That's just stupid.]

And go ahead and do what you need to do. [A derisive snort.] Just try not to die doing it until someone's actually in danger.
