That's all he does, until he's sure it's sunken in and he returns on his search.]
[He flashes him a grin in return, as if to say 'thanks for checking in.' He's glad that this newcomer that was so intent on finding that Saya person hasn't been hurt.]

[He did not want him to answer. He had been doing it because it had been important to him. He didn't want anyone reckless to go out and get themselves killed because he disliked people in general.]
