[Ever since she met Isley, Priscilla had come to expect a daily dose of mysteriousness in her interactions with him. And admittedly, he had been hinting to her about... something!]

[All of which means she isn't completely surprised when she comes into the ballroom and finds... well.]

[Everything.]

[Even so, her breath hitches, and it takes a good deal of self-control not to start crying right there. Which she refuses to do, because that would be... really embarrassing. So she gives Isley a kind of openly melty look and searches over the attendees to flash a sheepish little smile at Kaien before settling in to do her normal Party things.]

[Which mostly means mingling.]

[WHILE WEARING A DRESS!]

[...and occasionally sipping strawberry punch.]

But it's not my generosity. Isley and Kaien really put it together. I--

[asdjkad]

Oof!

[...at the backslapping. She blinks.]

I'm only eighteen. Kind of. I guess if you count the other, um, things, I'm more like-- hm.

Still, it's your night!

And hey, eighteen's a good number. There's no need to think about it too hard.

[Helen glances around, obviously looking for something.]

So, where's the cake?

Oh! Um, probably by the ... buffets or.... Something.

[There's supposed to be a cake?]

[Not quite approaching, yet not exactly moving away as she makes her way back from the gift table. If it's awkward, well, that's no one's fault but her own, and she's a little numb with recent events. It doesn't dull all of the sickness in the pit of her stomach, but it makes it a little difficult to call it out separately.

She's really had enough of running, and of avoiding. It's never gotten her anywhere before, except dead.

Although she's died twice in Anatole (and recently, too) without that particular circumstance. So, damned if you do, damn if you don't, maybe?

Maybe.]

[And there is Irene. Another one she wasn't entirely sure would come. Priscilla looks at her, and for a moment she debates whether to move or not - approach? avoid?]

[In the end, she draws a deep breath and decides to go with approach.]

...Irene. You're here.

[Yup. Start with the obvious observation.]

[Also going with the obvious, because it has worked so well thus far, right?]

I am.

[It almost sounds like a question. The question, really, is ...does Priscilla want her to be here.]

I thought it would be best to...

[Having some trouble with words, frowning and starting again.]

...show you I haven't disappeared. [No matter how much I want to] So that you can try, or not try, and you won't have to feel sorry later. Maybe the ...circles will stop.

[She's been turning those words over and over in her head, and what the hell, she's sounding a little like ...well, not herself, because she's not a babbler.]

[...]

That would be nice. Circles just kind of. Make me dizzy.

[......]

How have you been?

[...for the past six months.]

[Have a series of flickering expressions that are ...actually expressions. Are they indescribable? Because that's about the only word she can think of that truly sums up the last six months.]

I have been better. Was better for a ...time.

[What is it they say?]

That which does not kill us makes us---

[...sigh.]

---I think I'm a mess. I'm still standing, though. That's something.

And that naming trick is really something.

[I wonder if...]

Noel told me to stop getting pets. And I did. But then there were wolves and I couldn't leave them there, and anyway, I'm not sure why the bird turned up, but it needed a name since it did.

[...hm.]

I mean, yes I guess it is.

I hope they come back.

[eyeing the tree, which she's already visited once.]

Is it customary to wish for more than one thing?

I think it's all right to. I wished for a lot of things.

[Well, that made her obvious.]

I mean, more than one thing.

You might be more entitled. It's your birthday, after all.

[A beat.]

I wrote it on the card, but it's not the same as telling you. [You know, to your face. The way things should probably be told.] Happy Birthday, Priscilla.

I hope that it's everything you want it to be.

[Her gaze may linger upon Isley if she can catch him in the mingling crowd.]

Well... so far we haven't gained any extra cannibals today, so I guess it's off to a good state.

Although the night is still pretty young.

...but thank you.

[There are things she might say, if the circumstances were different. If this weren't a celebration. But there is enough time to be somber (Maybe. They could all disappear in a puff of smoke by morning, couldn't they?) later. This is Priscilla's night, and she tries to remember this as she continues.]

As good as any, and better than some. Are you expecting more - ah, extra - cannibals?

[It's funny, really, but that really is a fair question. Priscilla rubs her face]

...well. That depends. Is Rigaldo here yet?

[sigh.]

If so, then... hopefully we've reached out, um, cannibal maximum.
