a/n: Akutsu/Dan for sparklespiff. This is a ship I'd much rather read than write, but when needs must ... there's consolation in the fact that no matter how bad this is, studying for my exam on Friday would be infinitely worse. I spit on renal haemodynamics. Be told.

Akutsu sat down gingerly, afraid he'd leave a trail of slime like an oversized snail.

That's such a wonderful image: heartbreaking and funny at the same time. It's rare to see Akutsu be vulnerable, and you did a really lovely job of showing that side of him while keeping him in character.

I should have known that if anyone could write plausible, awesome Akutsu 'fluff' (because it's not really fluff because it's Akutsu, but I suspect it's as close as one can get without making him horribly ooc rather than wonderfully himself and real, as he is here) it would be you. Sasuga scoradh.

Things I love in particular about this fic: the little details you describe that make every scene and every character seem so much more real; your portrayal of Dan OMG he has so much heart and he's still so innocent, but he's totally kick ass too; the scene on the wasteland, and Akutsu's confession, not sappy at all because you don't describe it in detail, yet still somehow so perfect it made me all shiny eyed.

Aww, shucks! [le blush] I'm glad you enjoyed it. Now that I come to think about it (fortunately I didn't before writing, as I probably never would have started) these two are rather hard characters to write. Their personalities are so defined, they're like caricatures of themselves. Also, I've never been able to write fight scenes, and it falls down as an Akutsu fic because of the dearth of fight scenes!

See, this is why I need to get out more. I babble at people who just want me to say: thank you, much appreciated, come again soon! :D

I think my brain just broke.

This was so, so good. But it was Akutsu fluff and that just... makes mt head wonky. In the best possible way of course. He was still very much incharacter, but more vulnerable than we normally get to see. And Dan is just love <3

Mind if I put this on tenipri_recs?

Fantastic! There's something about this pairing that makes me grin. I like the way you write Akutsu, and how he tries to be total bastard but can't quite managed it.
