Apparently trust is a character flaw now?

This is I suppose an addition to mermaideyes's post about expectations of privacy in a public setting.

Apparently there was an incident [1] recently. In short, a fake ad was placed in a personals section of an online site. The ad was about a submissive woman wanting a guy who could give her rough and kinky sex. As expected, it received hundreds of replies ( Read more... )

Yikes - I'm not even sure if "they deserve it" argument plays out. I mean, the person placed an ad in an appropriate area requesting rough and kinky sex. Wouldn't the rougher/kinkier the response represent the best choice? (Admittedly, I have no experience in this area and could be completely wrong!)

Not sure really. I would actually expect those who are serious about it would want to keep things professional, just because things could go wrong. Of course I don't have any experience in the area either, and am just guessing from the various sexblogs I read. :D

I agree with you, it's a wicked act and a shocking breach of the social contract. However, since it's cool to be a bully these days, most people will just say "hur hur, stupid people for replying to a personal in good faith".

A lot of people have said the prank was brilliant, and apparently there has been at least one copycat prank.

Of course the guy whose name is associated with it has allegedly received quite a few threats since the incident (mostly from those who responded most likely), so not everybody agrees with him. ^_^

Yeah; that is just assholery.

I would disagree that people replying to it with just a picture of their cock are "average" people, but still, that doesn't change that doing this is quite a nasty act.

Can't think of anything smart to say.

I assume you've never looked on 'adult' personals sites before. Pictures of either oneself in some state of undress is pretty much the norm (since you are primarily looking for sex). :P

"Brilliant" is certainly pushing it. It certainly didn't take much imagination to come up with that one.

I was neutral towards the whole thing, mostly curious to see the responses, 'til I read the perpetrator's asinine treatment of that "Jerry" guy. He didn't necessarily have to comply with Jerry's request, but his response was pure adolescent troll.
