I was never exactly a "fan" of Marcel Marceau; mime is an acquired taste and very easy to make boring, and yet Marceau brought such a grace and gentility to the art that you couldn't help but smile, or out-and-out laugh, or at the very least identify him with yourself. While I had my own thoughts on Marceau's passing, I did feel saddened at the news. I took a mime course in university, and, while I only got a C-ish in it (don't remember the exact grade, but most of my theatre courses' final grade were in the C range), it was a course I immensely enjoyed (except for having to wear the skintight leotards and tight shirt - and having to walk the hall of campus between the change room and the "classroom"/performance space in them) and still do some mime (to myself) on occassion because, it's fun, dammit. When I found out, I did a "mime in the box" and a "sideways rope pull" (my favourite).
