I think it was Mark Twain who said that he never wished ill of the dead, but he'd read many an obituary with pleasure. Along those lines I discovered today that Howard Hunt had passed away. As I always say, power corrupts. Leadership of *any* party tend to be selfish, altrustic, arrogant bastards. It's been that way since the dawn of democracy, and it's human nature. Which is why I still support communism, but I am fully aware that in the hands of human leadership, it'll lead to things that we associate with Mao, Stalin, Lenin, etc.

(I believe even you have spoken about issues with Green Party uppy-ups.)

Unfortunately, we can't figure out a way to make wanting the job a disqualification for being a politician.

It isn't really that. Most politicians I've met, even the career ones, are fairly decent folks who really do try to do what's best. Problem is that there are always going to be some who are idiots if you put together a large enough group. Grab 535 people more or less at random and you're going to have a small subset of assholes within; it's no different with Congress.
