It was only Xander's fourth night as a dancer at the Fabulous Ladies Night Club. The dancer who called in sick that first night was still out with the flu so Xander was getting ready for another night onstage. He wished he could say it was getting easier...but it really wasn't. Every night, he was seized with stage fright and somehow...he just went ( Read more... )

Dmitri had only come here on a whim. He had scores of papers to write for university and no desire at all to do them so he'd gone looking for distractions. This place had called to him when he'd passed it by so he thought he'd give it a try.

As strip clubs went, it wasn't too bad. The drinks were tolerable, the majority of the dancers were moderately easy on the eyes. Even so, it wasn't faced-paced enough for his taste and he was about to leave when his eyes were drawn to the newest dancer on stage.

The others had started out far more flashier but there was something about him that the others didn't have and Dmitri stayed where he was, watching his every moment.

When the dancer came around with the tray, Dmitri put on a charming smile and leaned in his way. "How much for what you have there?"

If Xander felt eyes following him, he didn't notice. It was his job to be watched and oh hadn't that taken a few panic attacks in the bathroom the first night to get over. Jodie had been understanding...as long it only happened that night. Now, he just had to swallow past the constant lump in his throat and think about his poor car in the shop.

When the man spoke, Xander turned and blinked in the dim light, before grinning a bashful smile he couldn't help. "Three dollar shots, with five for ten bucks. I have..." He checked the tray and tried to remember which was which, "mostly vodka left, with some tequila and a few of the house specials, if you like fruity stuff."

"Vodka. You couldn't have given me any happier news," Dmitri exclaimed, his smile widening even more. His favorite drink and a very nice-looking waiter to serve it to him - he was suddenly very glad that he had decided to stay.

"I'll take two of those, please." He dug the money out of his pocket and handed it over.

Still unable to do two things at once, he's lost a good bit of his tips the one night he tried, Xander carefully brought the tray down from where he'd been carrying it at shoulder level and balanced it on the edge of the table before taking the money from the man and putting it in his pocket. After studying the tray for a moment, Xander managed to pick out two shots of vodka and set them on the table.

With a relieved smile, Xander asked, "Can I get you anything else?" Now was the tricky part...picking the tray back up without spilling anything...
