Two subject post: Iron Man & Geek Community

So... I got to see Iron Man last night at one of the advance showings here in the city, and I'm still feeling quite pleased with my money spent! Robert Downey Jr. is fantastic in his role, and well surpassed the expectations I had for him here. Did you watch all the way to the end of the credits?

As far as geekness goes: my roommate has the best story.
We were at a Barnes and Nobles when we overheard two guys talking about light in the underdark. The argument was that there had to be light in order to read the clock. My roommate turned around and said "Narbonel was a heat clock and...oh my god I am such a nerd." Not only did she know what they were talking about but what type of clock and the name.

"Can't function" I think is different than "feeling comfortible around others that know the same things". There are plenty of geeks I know that carry on 'normal' social lives, but the second they find others with similar fandoms are quick to just relax and talk on the fly.
