A quick enough marker guide [sorry, no images right now]

Apr 01, 2009 21:56

Now, I'm an avid marker user and collector; Chartpak AD, Neopiko, Promarker, Copic, TRIA, Touch!, Chafford, Prismacolor- I've tried most of 'em and have developed quite an opinionated stance on them and the brand-loyalty attached to them, so please allow me to let off some steam by giving a simple review of each brand I've tried.

Or 'How I learned to stop listening to morons and started loving the Pantone bomb'. )

I'm glad you find it helpful, man! Myself and a friend of mine at college [my partner in Hoothoot-drawing crime] are big marker fans, so we've been discussing the pros and cons of them over the week. God we're such nerds...

But yeah, I like Tria for their smoothness as well. Unfortunately they're expensive. Still, Promarkers are fairly similar and you can get them in Art and Hobby shops and the likes. If you ever want me to bring in my markers to college for you to play with then just give me a shout!

This thing has gotten such an overall positive response; I'm amazed! I didn't even spend much time on it/ it's not as well written as it could be.

Yeah, Copics are little waterfalls in pen-form; they can explode all over your page if you're not careful. It was so nice of your friend to buy you those markers, though. Thoughtful gifts are the bestestestestest gifts.

Also; SCATMAN.

woah :O this was a really interesting review on these markers to read. I always love reading your writting ^^ Although I can't say I've really tried many any of these out. I always fear that I'll ruin my drawings with color since I was never properly taugh color chading so I've never been big on having myself try to use it. Which is a shame because then they all look so plain and bland with no color on them haha

Maybe I should go try find a marker and get some practice in. Well either way this was very helpful to read :) *saves*

I could try and teach you a bit about shading and stuff if you wanted; I'd love to see your drawings!

Pick up any old thing; a marker, a pencil, a crayon- practice is the important thing.

=D I use prismas! I'm soooooooo glad they changed to the small brush nib instead of the pen of death nib. I like painting so the brush nib is loads better.
But man....I'd kill for some Trias ....>_> Soooomeedaaaay somewheeeeeee.....

Prismas! I like them; I don't get why people badmouth them so viciously.

Hahaha, pen of death!
Aw man, if I had more money I'd just buy a tonne of markers and build a fort. A fort of pens.

No boys allowed!

I know, I know; I was too light on the Copics, but frankly I didn't want to get flamed by the marker-wank brigade. You know them; they'd come find me.

I agree; the Copics, while 'fancy' just aren't worth it. They're all outward style and no substance. Honestly, they're like the iPod of the marker world; not necessarily the best, but their design gives people boners. ):

TRIA ARE FLASHY, TOO. REALLY FUCKIN' FLASHY!

Lol Spuds.

I have an ipod. It's kinda shit. It's nice to have the 80gb, but the thing is just plain stupid.

Copics have up on their site that they invented replaceable nibs! remember?!

If markers were popular in general, tria would give people boners. hurrr. Honestly, there is no quality in copic markers, as I've told you before, MINE BROKE ALREADY. Such girly markers, jeeeze.

PB hurrr
