I am awake.  I have been awake since 4AM.  Apparently the water meter in my house wanted to malfunction at 4AM today.  Like it was on a timer.

It sounded like the entire place was vibrating....except I didn't know where it was coming from.  I checked the entire house and stared to freak out as it got louder in the basement.  When all else fails,

When I had my own place in NJ, the smoke alarms in the whole house were hardwired together. So if one went off they all would beep.
At 3am one time they all went off. Of course my first reaction was to freak because my house was on fire! But I didn't smell any smoke. There was no fire. I called my dad. The only way we could get them to shut off was to turn off the entire circuit at the breaker box in the basement. Turns out it was a battery going low in one of the units. Or so we thought. Because a few nights later, after changing all of the batteries, it happened again. I had to have an electrician come out to really fix it.

The joys of homeownership, right?

I had the water department come out, and they tried all they could do without taking work away from plumbers. So, I have a plumber coming out today to take a look at it. Everyone has said it's a easy/quick fix. I hope so. Just for them to come out today it's $95.

I have told my mom that with all the things that have happened to me and the house over the past few months I could write a book. And I think I will...the Single Youmg Woman's Guide to Things That Go Bump in the Night of Your New Home. :) Still working on the title. Currently I have the chapters on plumbing and security systems down. I'm sure the others will come over the course of next year. :)
