HOORAY For Tolerance! I have to admit, I haven't been able to keep up with this story much. Just little snippets that I've heard on the radio while I'm trying to get dressed and not be late for work. From what I heard at first- I got the impression that a Mosque was going to be built directly at the site of Ground Zero. Which my reaction to that was- I don't think anything should be built there unless it's a Memorial ( ... )

Well put, all of it.

Although I can't really blame the people who are protesting--there's no legal reason to stop the cultural center from being built (and quite a few to let them go ahead!), but it hasn't even been a decade since 9/11 happened, and people do have a right (even a First Amendment right) to express those feelings of fear, anger, and horror.

I know I'd feel better about it if it were a fully interfaith group doing the Park51 project. But I'll be interested in seeing what happens.
